Isaac Imojime, alongside other relevant parties, to provide a comprehensive explanation regarding the N68.329 billion contract for the dualisation of the Wurukum–Air Force Base Road.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This directive followed a motion of urgent public importance introduced by Anthony Agom, representing the Okpokwu State Constituency. Agom informed the House that the significant cost of the road dualisation project had sparked widespread public criticism. He stressed the need for an investigation into the project’s expenses, urging the Assembly to summon the Commissioner and all involved stakeholders to present their justifications.

Supporting the motion, Alfred Emberga, the representative of Makurdi North State Constituency, echoed concerns over the exorbitant cost. He called on the Assembly to ensure that those responsible appear and shed light on why the relatively short road section requires such a substantial budget.

In addition, the House instructed the Commissioner for Finance to withhold any fund disbursement to the contractor until the investigation is completed.

The Assembly also issued a separate summons to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Bureau for Local Government, Security and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Director General of Homeland Security, and the chairpersons of Otukpo, Ado, Agatu, Apa, Kwande, Ukum, Logo, Ohimini, Gwer West, and Katsina-Ala local governments. They are expected to appear on Friday, April 4, 2025, to address the ongoing issues of killings and kidnappings in Otukpo and neighboring areas.

Mover of the motion, Micheal Audu, highlighted the alarming frequency of violent incidents in Opa-Adoka and Asa, within Otukpo Local Government, allegedly perpetrated by suspected Fulani herdsmen. These attacks have resulted in multiple deaths and abductions. Audu expressed concerns that local government officials and security agencies might be overwhelmed or neglecting their responsibilities. He called for a detailed explanation from the Director General of Homeland Security and other key figures involved.
