Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of bias during the recall process initiated against her. Addressing her supporters at a homecoming rally in Okehi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State, Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed frustration with INEC’s handling of the petition.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, INEC has been actively aiding petitioners, allegedly affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), by guiding them on how to correct flaws in their recall submission. She claimed that when the initial petition lacked proper contact details, INEC advised the petitioners on how to resubmit with accurate information.

She questioned the validity of the recall effort, pointing out that the petitioners, allegedly operating under the name “Kogi Central Political Frontier,” had listed a questionable address in their submission. Akpoti-Uduaghan called out INEC for not verifying the legitimacy of the petition, asking if Nigeria had become a place where fictitious groups could attempt to unseat elected senators.

In her speech, she urged her supporters to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that during the verification process, truth would prevail. Despite security challenges, including a ban on public gatherings imposed by the Kogi State government, Akpoti-Uduaghan made a grand entrance, arriving in a helicopter, much to the delight of her supporters.

Okehi LGA Chairman Amoka Monday announced a curfew ahead of her rally, citing security concerns, which added to the tense political atmosphere. Akpoti-Uduaghan challenged INEC to maintain transparency and called on the public to scrutinize the recall process, asserting that the mandate given to her by the people would not be easily undermined.

A Strong Endorsement for Donald Duke

  • Integrity and Capability: He described Duke as part of a visionary leadership blueprint aimed at thinking critically, restoring national dignity, exhibiting true integrity, and offering young Nigerians a leadership style they can genuinely look up to.

The Strategic Push for an Opposition Coalition

Despite possessing what he considers the superior candidate, Baba-Ahmed explained why the party is actively championing a broader political alliance:

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.

  • Defeating Fault Lines: Framing the 2027 election as a critical turning point for the nation, Baba-Ahmed noted that the stakes go far beyond individual party ambitions. The coalition aims to unite likeminded opposition forces to rescue Nigeria from its current trajectory and bridge its deep fault lines.
