Nwaeke Accuses Fubara of Working with Militants, Etche Leaders Call Him a Liar

Nwaeke had previously accused Governor Fubara of collaborating with militants and orchestrating the demolition of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex to prevent his impeachment. He also claimed that Fubara paid his former Chief of Staff, Dr. Edison Ehie, to carry out the demolition.
However, Etche community leaders dismissed these claims as baseless and deceptive, accusing Nwaeke of being financially motivated. They alleged that his statements were influenced by political sponsors from Abuja, aiming to tarnish the governor’s image. Ogbonna Nwuke, a former House of Representatives member, stated that Nwaeke’s actions were an attempt to gain favor from his financial backers.
The leaders revealed that Nwaeke had earlier approached the Rivers State Government House Chief of Staff seeking financial support in exchange for loyalty. They also pointed out inconsistencies in his accusations, noting that his version of events conflicted with his wife’s statements, casting doubt on his credibility.
The Etche ethnic group has called for a thorough investigation into Nwaeke’s conduct, urging security agencies to hold him accountable for spreading falsehoods for political and financial gain. Additionally, they criticized the state of emergency imposed in Rivers State, describing it as detrimental to the state’s stability. They appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the decision, warning that it could heighten political tensions.
