In a strategic ambush at the Kogi-Edo border, police neutralized a notorious kidnap gang, arrested 13 suspects, and confiscated weapons. These operations, conducted in Taraba and Kano states, also led to the arrest of six suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, and illegal firearm possession. This underscores the police’s commitment to combating violent crime and ensuring public safety.

A significant breakthrough occurred in Taraba State, where a joint operation between the State Command and other security agencies rescued 20 kidnapped victims along the Takum/Mararaba road. The operation, executed on March 29, 2025, in Muji Town, involved a fierce exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers. The assailants eventually fled, abandoning the hostages and their vehicles. Two injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment.

In a related development, the Kano State Anti-Kidnapping Squad apprehended a group responsible for the abduction of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau on March 8, 2025. Following thorough investigations, five suspects—Tukur Lawal (alias Maikudi), Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim—were arrested on March 18 and 19. A locally made rifle and ₦4.84 million, believed to be ransom money, were recovered during the operation. The victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.

Additionally, the Special Tactical Squad (STS) arrested Kafinta Musa in Taraba for armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal firearm possession. An AK-49 rifle with five rounds of live ammunition was seized during the arrest.

ACP Adejobi commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, noting that these successes reflect the synergy between the police force and law-abiding citizens. He urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, also praised the operatives and reaffirmed the force’s unwavering commitment to tackling criminal activities across the nation.

Despite possessing what he considers the superior candidate, Baba-Ahmed explained why the party is actively championing a broader political alliance:

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.

  • Defeating Fault Lines: Framing the 2027 election as a critical turning point for the nation, Baba-Ahmed noted that the stakes go far beyond individual party ambitions.
