The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, successfully conducted the annual Hawan Nasarawa ceremony on the third day of Shawwal, even after the Kano State Police Command imposed a ban on Eid-el-Fitr durbar activities due to security concerns.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Traditionally, this significant event features the Emir and his entourage engaging in a majestic horseback procession to the Government House, where they pay homage to the governor. However, in light of the ban announced by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori, Emir Sanusi II made necessary adjustments to the procession. Instead of the traditional horseback ride, he opted for a motorcade.

Accompanied by his entourage, the Emir departed from the palace and proceeded to the Government House, where Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf warmly received him, thereby upholding the essence of the time-honored tradition. This year’s procession also followed a new route, differing from the usual path taken in previous years.

Despite these modifications, the Emir’s convoy maintained the festive spirit as enthusiastic supporters lined the streets to cheer him on, reflecting the unwavering celebratory mood of the occasion.

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.

  • Defeating Fault Lines: Framing the 2027 election as a critical turning point for the nation, Baba-Ahmed noted that the stakes go far beyond individual party ambitions. The coalition aims to unite likeminded opposition forces to rescue Nigeria from its current trajectory and bridge its deep fault lines.
