In a statement released on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighted that these operations represent a significant escalation in the ongoing battle against criminal elements endangering the safety and security of Nigerian citizens.
According to Adejobi, a majority of the operations took place in Taraba State, where Police operatives from the State Command led a successful mission on March 29, 2025, along the Takum/Mararaba road. In collaboration with other security agencies, officers swiftly responded to a kidnapping incident in Muji Town.
During a fierce gun battle, the operatives managed to rescue 20 kidnapped victims and recover abandoned vehicles at the scene. Two victims who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical attention.
In a separate development in Kano State, an investigation initiated on March 8, 2025, following the kidnapping of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau, culminated in the arrest of key suspects. On March 18 and 19, technical analysis by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad led to the capture of Tukur Lawal (alias Maikudi) and his accomplices—Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim.
Authorities confiscated a locally made rifle and cash amounting to N4,840,000, suspected to be ransom money. The victim was rescued unharmed and has been reunited with his family.
Additionally, operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS), acting on credible intelligence, arrested Kafinta Musa of Taraba State on charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal possession of firearms. An AK49 rifle loaded with five rounds of ammunition was recovered. Efforts are underway to capture other members of the criminal syndicate.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the officers for their courage and professionalism during these challenging operations. The Police Force continues to encourage public cooperation in providing timely information to aid the fight against crime.
