Atiku Criticizes Wike, Says Focus Should Be on Tinubu’s Performance, Not 2027 Elections

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to prioritize addressing the shortcomings of the Bola Tinubu-led administration rather than focusing on the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Lere Olayinka, Wike’s media aide, recently stated that his principal would work to thwart Atiku’s 2027 presidential bid, just as he allegedly did in the 2023 elections. Olayinka’s remarks were in response to Atiku’s recent declaration that he had no regrets about not selecting Wike as his running mate in the last election.

In a social media post, Olayinka emphasized Wike’s role in Atiku’s defeat and vowed to ensure a repeat in 2027. He stated:

Fuel Price Hike: Seyi Makinde Approves ₦10,000 Salary Boost For Oyo Workers.

“Two years after contributing to the PDP’s loss in a winnable presidential election, Atiku is still explaining why he didn’t choose Wike as his running mate. Wike, on his part, has no regrets for ensuring Atiku’s defeat and will continue to work against him.”

Reacting to these statements, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, dismissed Wike’s focus on 2027 as inappropriate given the current state of governance.

“Ordinarily, we wouldn’t dignify such remarks with a response. However, it is insensitive for Wike to be discussing the 2027 elections when his principal, President Tinubu, is struggling to fulfill his mandate,” Ibe said in a chat with Vanguard.

He further questioned the state of the country under the current administration, asking:

Dollar Slides Again As Naira Battles Pressure At Parallel Market.

“Are Nigerians better off today than they were in 2023? What is the current cost of living compared to two years ago?”

Atiku, he added, is more concerned with addressing national issues than engaging in political distractions.

2027: Gov Sule Sparks Buzz, Reveals Who He Wants As Nasarawa’s Next Governor.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has openly backed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred governorship candidate under the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sule made this known during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, a move seen as an early signal of political succession plans in the state.

Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West in the 10th Senate, recently dumped the Social Democratic Party for the APC, further fuelling speculations about his governorship ambition.

The governor also faulted public officials who parade routine duties like salary payments, road construction and provision of basic amenities as landmark achievements.

Speaking on Wednesday at the 59th inaugural lecture of Nasarawa State University, Sule said governance should go beyond basic responsibilities and focus on policies that directly improve people’s lives.

According to him, leaders must think beyond conventional projects and pursue solutions that bring lasting impact to citizens.

Using his administration as an example, Sule recalled how frequent fire outbreaks at a major market used to force the government into repeated relief payouts to traders.

He said rather than continuing temporary interventions, his government chose to build a modern market to permanently tackle the problem, adding that there has been no report of another fire incident since the reconstruction.

Sule also highlighted the construction of a bridge in Auta near Keffi, which he said has greatly reduced years of devastating flooding in the area.

At the event, Ike Neliaku praised Sule’s development strides, especially road and infrastructure projects across key parts of the state.

Also speaking, Emmanuel Dandaura stressed the need for institutions to align communication with performance, warning that failure to do so could erode public trust.
