ASP Allegedly Kills Police Inspector, Death Initially Reported as Suicide

Published

on

A Nigerian police inspector, Ajele Oloyede, died last Thursday after allegedly being shot by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Tolorunloju Stephen at a ceramics company in Igbesa, Ogun State. The incident has raised significant concerns within the Ogun State Police Command, as there are inconsistencies in the official account of the death.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

An audio recording obtained by SaharaReporters features senior police officers discussing the case, suggesting an attempt to cover up the true events. One officer claimed that Ajele was shot by ASP Stephen, despite the latter’s denial. According to the officer, Ajele was not carrying a rifle, and the bullet wound did not align with the suicide claim.

Initially, the Ogun State Police Command stated that Ajele’s death was a suicide, but this statement was later retracted after a full investigation began. Spokesperson Omolola Odutola explained that the suicide claim was based on preliminary findings and not conclusive evidence.

Despite the retraction, there are concerns that ASP Stephen is being shielded from accountability. Officers have criticized the handling of the case, pointing out that a junior officer would have been detained immediately, but Stephen remains free. The deceased’s colleagues and friends have rejected the suicide theory, pointing to Ajele’s stable personal life and achievements. The case has sparked outrage within the force, with some suggesting a cover-up to protect the officer involved.

A Strong Endorsement for Donald Duke

  • Surpassing Competitors: Speaking during an interview, Baba-Ahmed confidently stated that, candidate for candidate, Donald Duke outperforms all other presidential contenders currently in the political space.

  • Integrity and Capability: He described Duke as part of a visionary leadership blueprint aimed at thinking critically, restoring national dignity, exhibiting true integrity, and offering young Nigerians a leadership style they can genuinely look up to.

The Strategic Push for an Opposition Coalition

Despite possessing what he considers the superior candidate, Baba-Ahmed explained why the party is actively championing a broader political alliance:

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.

  • Defeating Fault Lines: Framing the 2027 election as a critical turning point for the nation, Baba-Ahmed noted that the stakes go far beyond individual party ambitions. The coalition aims to unite likeminded opposition forces to rescue Nigeria from its current trajectory and bridge its deep fault lines.
