Senator Nwebonyi Opens Up on Clash with Oby Ezekwesili

Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, has spoken out regarding his verbal exchange with former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, during a Senate Ethics Committee hearing.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The hearing, which addressed allegations of sexual harassment involving the suspended Senator for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, turned heated when the two clashed.

In a viral video, Senator Nwebonyi was seen telling Ezekwesili, “You are an insult to womanhood; you are a disgrace to womanhood. People like you can never be here.”

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV, Nwebonyi explained that his reaction was triggered by Ezekwesili, who allegedly called him a “hooligan.”

According to him:

“It started when she was supposed to take an oath as a witness, but she refused. I then offered to take an oath myself to give evidence. While I was addressing the presiding officer, she turned to me and said, ‘Will you shut up your mouth?’

“A sitting senator? In the Senate? That I should shut up my mouth? I asked her to withdraw the statement, but she repeated it and even called me a hooligan. So, I responded, ‘You are the hooligan.’

“For a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to tell a senator to shut up and call him a hooligan? Then you are the hooligan.”

The exchange has sparked debates over decorum and respect in the Senate, adding another layer of controversy to the ongoing investigation.
