Axxela Reaffirms Commitment to Energy Security and Industrial Growth in Lagos
Axxela Limited has reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening energy security, advancing industrialization, and promoting environmental sustainability in Lagos State. During a visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina, the company reiterated its commitment to expanding natural gas infrastructure and supporting economic development. Through its subsidiary, Gaslink Nigeria Limited, Axxela has played a pioneering role in private-sector natural gas distribution, extending its gas network by over 170 kilometers across key industrial hubs such as Ikeja, Ilupeju, Isolo, Ijora, Apapa, Tin Can, Victoria Island, and Eko Atlantic.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
With its ongoing expansion into the Victoria Island-Lekki corridor, Axxela aims to enhance energy accessibility, drive industrial growth, and support decarbonization efforts by providing cleaner and more cost-effective energy solutions.
The company’s extensive natural gas distribution network has attracted new industries while bolstering existing businesses, ultimately driving economic growth and increasing tax revenues for public infrastructure development.
Axxela has also demonstrated its expertise in power generation by developing Independent Power Projects (IPP) for the Lagos State Government in Akute, Alausa, and Lagos Island. Additionally, the company recently completed a 5.8 MW power project for Cadbury Nigeria.
Welcoming the Axxela management team, Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment for investors. He emphasized the state’s dedication to supporting enterprises like Axxela in their mission to expand energy infrastructure and sustainability initiatives.
Kehinde Alabi, Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, highlighted the company’s role in securing Lagos State’s energy future. “We take great pride in driving energy security and significantly contributing to Lagos’ position as an energy hub. Our initiatives directly support industrialization and environmental sustainability. We remain committed to collaborating with the state government to bridge the energy gap. Our AGI facility in Ikeja and expansion along the VI-Lekki corridor reflect our dedication to sustainable energy solutions that empower industries and reduce carbon emissions,” Alabi stated.
Beyond its energy initiatives, Axxela actively invests in social impact programs, partnering with the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) on annual tree-planting initiatives and supporting education through its Back-to-School Scholarship Initiative, which has benefited hundreds of students from host communities.
Axxela Limited is a trailblazer in private-sector natural gas solutions and captive power generation in Nigeria. Co-owned by Helios Investment Partners LLP and Sojitz Corporation, the company is a designated natural gas shipper on the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) and a member of the West African Power Pool (WAPP), delivering natural gas to approximately 200 industrial and commercial customers through its expansive infrastructure network.

West African Tax Institutes Under Nigerian Leadership for the Next Two Years
Nigeria has officially assumed leadership of the West African Union of Tax Institutes (WAUTI) for the next two years, following the election of Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi, President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), as the President of the Union. WAUTI, which comprises National Tax Institutes/Associations from ECOWAS member states, is committed to enhancing tax professionalism, improving tax compliance, and streamlining tax administration within the region. With Nigeria at the helm, WAUTI aims to further its vision of harmonizing tax practices across West Africa, fostering a transparent and equitable taxation system that boosts economic growth and compliance.
In his acceptance speech, Agbeluyi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the organization, vowing to collaborate closely with fellow executives and stakeholders to advance the Union’s objectives. He highlighted his commitment to working on regional partnerships that will support professionalism in the tax systems of WAUTI’s member states.
Agbeluyi’s vast experience, which includes serving as the Honorary Treasurer and 2nd Vice President of CITN, has positioned him well for this new role. He is also a distinguished member of various prestigious bodies, such as the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), and has earned numerous accolades in the field of taxation.
In addition to Agbeluyi’s election, other members of WAUTI’s Executive for the 2025-2027 tenure were also selected, including the re-election of Mr. Innocent Ohagwa, CITN’s current Vice President, as the Honorary Treasurer. This marks the beginning of a new era of regional cooperation in tax administration under Nigerian leadership.
