Denmark Eyes Stronger Business Ties With Enugu, Praises State Progress

During a meeting at the Government House in Enugu, the Consul General of the Royal Danish Embassy in Nigeria, Jette Djerrum, led a delegation of Danish businesses to discuss investment opportunities with Governor Peter Mbah. She highlighted Denmark’s enthusiasm for partnering with Enugu in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, logistics, and infrastructure.

Djerrum commended Enugu’s progress, stating that despite negative global narratives, the state stands as proof that positive developments are happening in Nigeria. She was particularly impressed by the governor’s focus on youth, smart education, agriculture, waste-to-energy transformation, and logistics, emphasizing the need for swift collaboration.

“We already have Danish companies here, including those supplying tractors and establishing a new assembly center. Now, the goal is to bring in more businesses to work closely with the people of Enugu,” Djerrum noted.

Governor Mbah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment, highlighting existing partnerships, including an agreement with the Danish company ODK Group for tractor procurement and assembly in Enugu. He also emphasized the state’s ambitious plans, such as securing over 300,000 hectares for agricultural projects, launching Special Agro-Processing Zones, and investing $20 million in a large-scale ranch capable of housing over 20,000 cows.

Beyond agriculture, Mbah pointed out opportunities in tourism, healthcare, logistics, and aviation, reinforcing his vision to grow Enugu’s economy to $30 billion within the next six years.

The Danish delegation expressed readiness to support these initiatives through investment, capacity building, and technology transfer, particularly in agriculture, renewable energy, and waste-to-power solutions.
