In a reaction on Saturday night, Atiku expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. “I have been informed that the death toll from the fuel tanker explosion in Dikko, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, has risen to 60. This tragedy fills me with profound sadness. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and the people and government of Niger State. May their souls rest in peace,” he said.

These recurrent accidents underscore the urgent need for enhanced safety measures to prevent such devastating incidents,” Obi stated. According to the Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, the herdsman was seeking shelter from the rain with his cattle when the fatal lightning strike occurred, killing both the herder and his cows instantly.
