Reflecting on historical precedents, Nkole highlighted the role of civil societies, like NADECO, in holding military governments accountable, emphasizing that the opposition’s job is not to support the government but to scrutinize and ensure its actions are in line with public interest.

“Opposition is not about seeking to take power but about ensuring that the government delivers effectively on its promises,” Nkole stated. “I urge the Governor to focus on fulfilling his commitments rather than being distracted by the opposition.”

He also called for law enforcement to respect democratic values and refrain from suppressing opposition voices, reinforcing that a robust opposition ensures a thriving democracy.
