Davido Refused To Stay In My Room At P-Square’s Mansion – May D
Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, better known as May D, has shared insights into the challenges he faced while signed to P-Square’s record label, Square Records.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, May D disclosed that during his time at the label, he lacked basic necessities, including comfortable housing and a bank account.
He recounted an incident involving music star Davido, who once sought refuge at his accommodation within P-Square’s mansion but left after finding the living conditions unsuitable.
“When Davido was avoiding his dad, he came to my room at P-Square’s house and said, ‘May D, is this where you stay? I can’t sleep here.’ If I had a proper room, it would have been different,” May D explained.
“For the entire four years I was with P-Square, I didn’t even have a bank account. Only someone with money opens a bank account,” he added.
May D also accused P-Square of interfering with his chances of signing with Akon’s Konvict Music. He revealed that during a U.S. trip for the Chop My Money Remix video shoot, he informed P-Square about Akon’s interest in signing him, but claimed the duo prevented the deal from happening.
The singer gained prominence after joining Square Records in 2011 but was officially dropped from the label in August 2012.
