Business Owners In Ilorin Protest Against Barriers Erected By AbdulRazaq’s Government
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the decision of Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to erect barriers in major commercial hubs in Ilorin, the state capital.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The opposition party described the barricades, constructed in areas such as Challenge, Unity, and Post Office, as economic sabotage and a blow to the livelihoods of small-scale business owners and entrepreneurs.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 13, 2025, by the state party chairman, Babatunde Mohammed, the PDP pledged to remove the structures if elected in the 2027 gubernatorial election. The statement accused the current All Progressives Congress (APC) government of demonstrating “a complete lack of empathy” for the economic challenges faced by residents.
The PDP expressed solidarity with affected entrepreneurs, emphasizing the impact of these barriers on their businesses, families, and the local economy. The party also urged security agencies to protect the rights of protesters and called on youth to maintain a peaceful demeanor amid the ongoing agitation.
Promising to reverse these measures if given the opportunity to govern, the PDP reassured the people of Kwara of its commitment to fostering economic growth and supporting the underprivileged.
