Planned Maintenance Causes Power Blackouts In Select Abuja Areas, TCN Confirms
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that certain areas in the Federal Capital Territory will experience power outages this weekend. According to TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, the scheduled power interruptions are due to maintenance work on several transmission lines to improve service delivery.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Saturday morning, Mrs. Mbah explained that Gwagwalada would be without power from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday while engineers carry out maintenance. On Sunday, power will be cut in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp areas, also from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Mbah requested the public’s understanding during the planned maintenance. She further outlined that the work at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation on Saturday involves servicing a 60MVA power transformer and its related switchgear, which will temporarily affect power supply to Gwagwalada and nearby areas.
On Sunday, maintenance will continue at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation, with a focus on one of the 60MVA power transformers. This work will disrupt electricity in the aforementioned areas from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
TCN apologized for the inconvenience, especially during the festive season, but emphasized that the maintenance was necessary for the continued optimal performance of the power infrastructure.
