His nephew, Rey Mysterio Jr., has often expressed gratitude for his uncle’s guidance, including adopting the iconic ring name and training alongside other wrestling legends like Psicosis, Halloween, and Konnan.
Before entering the wrestling ring, Rey Misterio Sr. had a background in boxing. After an arm injury, his coaches encouraged him to transition to professional wrestling, leading to his debut on January 6, 1976, during a special Day of Kings event.
