on

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) is set to reinstate the controversial $300 landing fee for helicopter operators, a move aimed at addressing the agency’s ongoing financial challenges. This decision comes after a six-month suspension of the fee, which was originally imposed but later halted following protests from airline operators. The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development had initially introduced the levy and engaged NAEBI Dynamic Concept to oversee its collection.

John explained that the Federal Government had asked NAMA to suspend the fee after its initial rollout but emphasized that NAMA is now developing a framework to resume the collection of the landing fee from helicopters operating on oil rigs and private helipads across the country. Although the exact date for the resumption was not disclosed, John confirmed it would happen in the coming weeks.

In his presentation on financial constraints affecting Nigeria’s air navigation services, John highlighted the significant costs involved in providing necessary navigation aids, maintaining air traffic management equipment, and sustaining NAMA’s workforce. He also pointed out the agency’s financial struggles, including the 50% reduction in its internally generated revenue sent to the federal treasury and its obligation to remit 10% to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). These challenges have hindered NAMA’s ability to modernize equipment, maintain infrastructure, and ensure consistent training for its personnel.

He made this known during an interview on the Echo Room podcast, where he explained that his mother was already seriously ill while he was still in the Big Brother house and her condition worsened significantly by the time he was evicted.

According to him, the prize money from the show played a crucial role in funding her medical treatment. He added that if he had finished as first runner-up instead of winner, he would not have had the financial ability to support her care at that critical time.

“When I was in the house, my mom was ill. By the time I came out, my mom was close to death. I’m saying it categorically now, if I did not win that show, if I had gone and come out second, my mom would be dead now,” he said.

Laycon also spoke about how he got opportunities in the film industry after the show, explaining that most producers approached him because of his fame from BBNaija rather than any proven acting experience.

He noted that even before pursuing formal training in film or completing his university education, he was already being offered roles, but he often questioned the motivation behind such offers, suggesting they were driven more by his popularity than his talent.

He further reflected on public perceptions of his career choices across music, film, and education, saying people often speculate that his decisions are influenced by struggles in one area or another, but insisted that everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Shocking Insight: Don Jazzy Reveals Key Reason Marriages Don’t Last Today.

Published

on

Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has sparked reactions online after sharing a lighthearted explanation about why many modern marriages seem to break down faster than those of previous generations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a video that quickly went viral on social media, the Mavin Records boss used wedding cakes as a humorous analogy to compare past and present relationships.

He noted that in earlier times, couples often used fruit cakes made with alcohol for weddings. According to him, such cakes were durable and could last for long periods—sometimes up to a year—allowing couples to preserve and even share portions during their first wedding anniversary.

He jokingly suggested that this long-lasting nature of traditional cakes symbolically reflected the stability of marriages in the past.

Don Jazzy contrasted this with today’s trend, where many couples opt for butter or ice-cream cakes that require careful storage and spoil more easily.

He humorously implied that the shorter lifespan of these modern cakes mirrors the perceived fragility of some contemporary marriages.

He also pointed out that many modern wedding cakes are often heavily decorated with non-edible materials, with only a small portion actually meant for consumption.
