Deadly London teenager Bernard sentenced to life imprisonment for brutal murder

A 19-year-old man, Reuben Bernard, has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 22 years, for his role in the vicious murder of 30-year-old Olsi Kuka in Barnet. According to the Met Police, despite emergency services’ efforts, Kuka succumbed to his injuries.

A meticulous investigation by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, utilizing CCTV and mobile phone analysis, identified the five perpetrators.

A police search dog, Monty, also played a crucial role in uncovering vital evidence, discovering £8,000 hidden in a bed headboard.

During a trial at the Old Bailey, a jury heard the group all travelled to 30-year-old Olsi Kuka’s home address in High Road, N20, shortly before 03:00hrs on 11 May 2022.

They were split into two Mercedes cars that parked outside before the group forced entry into the flat and attacked Olsi, stabbing him numerous times.

Bernard was convicted of murder, conspiracy to rob, and causing grievous bodily harm.

Four co-defendants received sentences ranging from 6 to 12.5 years for their involvement in the crime.

Bernard,19, was jailed for life with 22 years minimum, while Santana Thompson,21, was jailed for 10 years for manslaughter, 10 years for conspiracy to rob, one year for Section 20 wounding.

Daige Ramsey, 25, was jailed 11 years for manslaughter, 10 years for conspiracy to rob, 12 months for Section 20 wounding while Ozan Seran, 29 was jailed for 12.5 years for manslaughter, 11.5 years for conspiracy to rob, 9 months for Section 20 wounding and Bulent Bakir, 27, jailed for six years for conspiracy to rob.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Rawlinson condemned the “calculated, vicious, and unrelenting” violence used in the attack, stating that the investigation continues to pursue additional leads.
