The new find was made at the Meji NW-1 well in Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 49, located in a shallow offshore area. According to Chevron’s statement, the drilling commenced on September 2, 2024, reaching a total depth of 8,983 feet by September 13 and encountering about 690 feet of hydrocarbons in Miocene sands, expanding the Meji field.

The discovery aligns with Chevron’s global strategy of extending the life of production assets and reducing development times. NNPC-CNL JV emphasized its commitment to partnering with the Nigerian government and other stakeholders to support the nation’s oil and gas industry and economic growth. The operations were completed on October 2, and the rig has since been moved from the site.

How Much Will Anthony Joshua Earn From Fighting Tyson Fury?

Published

on

British heavyweight star Anthony Joshua is reportedly in line to earn a record-breaking £75 million for his long-awaited clash with rival Tyson Fury. The mega-bout is scheduled for December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium [cite: 1].....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The fight is projected to generate a total purse of £150 million, with reports indicating an even 50/50 split between the two fighters [cite: 2]. For Joshua, the £75 million payout would represent the single largest purse of his professional career, surpassing his previous best of an estimated £65 million for a previous contest [cite: 5].

A Long Road to the Ring

This monumental event brings the two British rivals together after numerous prior attempts to schedule the fight failed. The heavyweights were initially set to meet in 2021 when they both held world titles, but those plans were scuttled when Tyson Fury was contractually obligated to face Deontay Wilder a third time [cite: 3].

Since then, both fighters have faced Oleksandr Usyk, with the Ukrainian securing back-to-back victories over both Joshua and Fury [cite: 4].

Commitment to UK Boxing

The upcoming December 11 bout in Cardiff is expected to become the richest fight in the history of British boxing [cite: 5].

Reports suggest Joshua could have secured an even larger payday by taking the fight to the United States, with Madison Square Garden in New York considered as an alternative venue. However, the two-time unified heavyweight champion was adamant that the fight must take place in Britain [cite: 6].

Explaining his decision to SunSport, Joshua stated:

“British boxing gave me everything; it changed my life. “I was going down the wrong path until I found Sean Murphy and Johnny Oliver at Finchley ABC. “And then Team GB in Sheffield, and all the amazing coaches that worked every day for the love of the sport. “Not the money, because there was no money. “It was the UK or nothing.” [cite: 7].

With both heavyweights in the latter stages of their careers, this high-stakes matchup could potentially be the final bout for either fighter. Furthermore, the agreement for the fight does not include a rematch clause [cite: 8].

“DON’T REPEAT THE MISTAKE!”: Wunti Issues Blistering Warning To Africa Over Riches of Lithium!.

Published

on

Speaking at the 2026 Concordia Annual Summit in New York, Bala Wunti, CEO of the World Energy Council Nigeria, warned African nations against repeating the economic model that defined the crude oil era [cite: 1, 3]. Wunti argued that perpetually exporting raw lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements—while importing refined products—amounts to “colonial economics” and will only generate poverty, not prosperity [cite: 6, 7].....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wunti stressed that the global economy is shifting from hydrocarbon dominance to one driven by critical minerals, with value now measured in kilograms rather than barrels [cite: 5, 6]. Africa’s opportunity, he said, lies in rapidly developing processing capacity, attracting investment through solid infrastructure and reliable data, and industrializing within the continent [cite: 8, 9, 11]. He cited Nigeria’s new Solid Minerals Company as a key platform designed to transform mineral potential into “bankable,” investable projects supported by clear commercial propositions [cite: 10, 12, 14].

AFRICA’S LITHIUM MOMENT: Raw Mineral Export is “Colonial Economics,” Warns Wunti

Africa must not squander its opportunity to lead in the emerging global critical minerals economy by repeating the mistakes of the past, according to energy expert Bala Wunti [cite: 1]. Addressing a high-level panel at the 2026 Concordia Annual Summit, Wunti argued that the continent cannot afford to remain a mere source of raw materials for lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements, as it was for crude oil [cite: 2, 3, 6].

Wunti, CEO of World Energy Council Nigeria and a veteran of the energy sector, drew a direct parallel between the last 50 years, defined by barrels of oil, and the next 50, which will be defined by kilograms of strategic minerals [cite: 5]. He warned that the permanent export of raw resources constitutes “colonial economics” that historically created poverty, not wealth for the continent [cite: 7].

Instead, Wunti advocated for an aggressive push toward domestic value addition. “The real prize is value addition through processing, factories, employment and industrialisation on the continent,” he declared [cite: 8].

When questioned on Nigeria’s undeveloped mineral wealth, Wunti identified the core problem as a failure to convert geological indications into “investable projects” [cite: 10]. He outlined essential requirements for attracting private capital, including reliable geological data, predictable regulation, and bankable commercial structures [cite: 11, 13]. Wunti highlighted Nigeria’s new flagship investment platform, the Nigerian Solid Minerals Company, as the vehicle created to correct the past economic model and move the nation from “potential to bankability” [cite: 12, 14, 15].

Bala Wunti, CEO of World Energy Council Nigeria, Urges African Nations to Shift from Resource Extraction to Industrial Processing Partnerships at 2026 Concordia Annual Summit

NEW YORK, NY – Bala Wunti, Chief Executive Officer of the World Energy Council Nigeria, delivered a keynote address at the 2026 Concordia Annual Summit in New York, warning African governments against allowing the continent’s critical minerals—including lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements—to be exported in their raw form [cite: 1, 6].

Participating in a panel titled “Rare Currency: Critical Minerals in a Shifting Global Economy,” Mr. Wunti argued that the economic model of exporting raw crude oil and importing refined petroleum products was costly and “created poverty, not prosperity” [cite: 5, 7]. He asserted that this model must not be repeated as the global economy transitions from hydrocarbons to strategic minerals [cite: 5].

“The permanent export of raw minerals amounts to colonial economics,” Mr. Wunti cautioned [cite: 7]. He emphasized that Africa’s true opportunity lies in rapidly building processing capacity and becoming a competitive partner in manufacturing, rather than exporting those industrial opportunities to Asia [cite: 8, 9].

Addressing the development gap in nations like Nigeria, which has identified 44 critical minerals, Mr. Wunti explained that the world invests in “projects, not potential” [cite: 11]. He identified six pillars for attracting private capital to the sector: reliable geological data, clearly defined projects, enabling infrastructure, predictable regulation, credible developers, and viable routes to market [cite: 11].

Furthermore, Mr. Wunti introduced the Nigerian Solid Minerals Company as the country’s flagship investment platform, established to transform mineral resources into commercially viable and bankable transactions that give investors necessary certainty [cite: 12, 14].

Mr. Wunti concluded by welcoming recent US government initiatives, such as Executive Order 14241 and price floor agreements, as vital steps toward closing the distance between policy ambition and commercial reality. He urged African governments to respond with sound policies and commercial discipline to leverage international partnerships effectively [cite: 16, 18].
