He was remembered for his integrity, excellence, and significant contributions to Nigeria’s democracy. The commendation service was filled with tributes from dignitaries sharing fond memories of the former Senate Majority Leader.

In a touching tribute, Zwingina’s first son, Kabrh, recounted the final moments of his father’s life. “I want to give a testimony about his last moments. I called Reverend Tom and said we should meet at the hospital. When we got there, we felt things were off. So, he (Reverend Tom) led us in prayers of salvation and forgiveness, and right after that, barely 20 seconds later, my dad passed.”

Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, described Zwingina as a man of vision and excellence. He expressed shock at the sudden loss, recalling how he had spoken at Zwingina’s 70th birthday celebration just days before his passing. “Senator Zwingina lived a life of tremendous impact, a life of integrity,” Gana said.

Zwingina’s contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly in the early days of the Peoples Democratic Party, were highlighted as key to his legacy. Gana noted, “He was a leader of thoughts and actions,” emphasizing Zwingina’s dedication to excellence.

Former Senate President Ken Nnamani praised Zwingina’s intellect, recalling his nickname “encyclopedia” for his remarkable memory during constitutional debates. “His departure is a big loss to Adamawa state and the entire country,” Nnamani stated.

Emotional tributes were also delivered by others, including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who reflected on their long-standing friendship and Zwingina’s towering presence in Adamawa State politics.

Former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang remembered Zwingina as hardworking and intelligent, and former Senate President Adolphus Wabara described him as a true Nigerian, emphasizing their collaborative efforts in politics.

Reverend Israel Akanji, President of the Baptist Convention, praised Zwingina for his contributions to the church during his time as pastor at First Baptist Church, Garki.

Dignitaries attending the service included Honorable Dr. Aliyu Hong, former Minister of State for Health; former SGF Babachir Lawal; former Senate Presidents David Mark and Ken Nnamani, among others.
