Speaking at the maiden Abuja Business and Investment Summit on Wednesday, organized by the Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL), Wike highlighted the FCT’s strategic location and growing population as ideal conditions for investment.

The minister assured that the FCT Administration has taken significant steps to create a favorable environment for both local and international investors. He announced plans to initiate nine major infrastructure projects, including enhancements to road and transportation networks, to facilitate seamless connectivity within the territory. Wike also emphasized efforts to improve security in collaboration with security agencies to ensure a safe environment for business operations.

The FCT Administration, along with the AICL and the Abuja Enterprise Agency, has streamlined procedures to support investors and ensure a smooth investment process. “Whether you are interested in real estate development, technology incubation, or agribusiness, there is a place for you here,” Wike stated, encouraging investors to take advantage of the various opportunities in the FCT.

During the summit, Wike addressed concerns regarding the regulation of informal business activities in the FCT, stressing that development must adhere to established rules and regulations. He maintained that unplanned settlements, often used by criminals, would be subject to removal to uphold the city’s planning standards.

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who delivered the keynote address, commended the investment initiative, noting that it aligns with the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He, however, pointed out that Nigeria is underperforming in attracting foreign direct investment and called for enhanced strategies to encourage sustainable business growth in the country.
