The admonition came during the installation ceremony of 12 Mogajis and three Baales at the Olubadan palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, on Monday.
The event witnessed the attendance of various traditional leaders, including Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, Balogun of Ibadanland, and other high-ranking chiefs. The new titleholders were reminded that their roles are to represent the Olubadan in their respective communities and uphold the values of Ibadan’s traditional leadership.
Speaking through the Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief (Senator) Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Olubadan emphasized that any Mogaji or Baale found engaging in acts of oppression or land grabbing would face sanctions, including possible removal from office. He reiterated that the titles are under the authority of the Olubadan, who holds the right to revoke them if necessary.
In addition to the installations, the Olubadan inaugurated a subcommittee on chieftaincy screening and dispute resolution, aimed at resolving any chieftaincy disputes in Ibadanland. The committee is chaired by Senior Chief Rafiu Emiola Onideure, with several other distinguished chiefs serving as members.
The Olubadan concluded the ceremony by urging the new leaders to view their positions as a call to serve their communities honorably.
