Russian Strikes On Hospital Claim Seven Lives
Russian Strikes On Hospital Claim Seven Lives....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Two Russian strikes on a hospital in the Ukrainian border city of Sumy resulted in the deaths of seven people on Saturday, according to regional authorities.
Sumy is located just across the border from Russia’s Kursk region, where Kyiv launched a surprise offensive on August 6, partly to establish a “buffer zone” within Russia.
The first strike “killed one person” and caused damage to several floors of the hospital, prompting the evacuation of patients and staff, as reported by Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko on Telegram. “During the evacuation of patients, the enemy struck again,” Klymenko added.

The regional administration later revised the death toll to “seven dead and 12 seriously wounded,” up from an initial report of six fatalities. Russia often conducts follow-up attacks on the same target to maximize damage and casualties.
Ukraine’s National Police condemned the dual strikes as a “cynical attack,” noting that one policeman was killed and another injured. They stated on Telegram that both strikes involved attack drones and targeted the hospital as well as a residential area.
Regional prosecutors indicated that the first attack occurred around 7:35 a.m. local time (04:35 GMT), hitting the hospital, which was treating 86 patients and had 38 staff members present at the time.
The second strike happened around 8:25 a.m. (05:25 GMT) while rescuers and police were assisting and evacuating patients from the scene, according to prosecutors.
The National Police shared images depicting damage to the four-story hospital building, with stretchers scattered outside and cars also affected. Ukraine’s Suspilne news outlet published photos from the scene showing several bodies on the pavement and part of the hospital roof torn off.
Dobrobat, a volunteer group dedicated to repairing damaged homes, reported on Facebook that its volunteers were at the site when the second strike occurred. They shared video footage of thick smoke, explosions, and people rushing for cover as sirens blared.
“People are just lying on the street dead,” one volunteer said while filming the scene on his phone. “We survived by a miracle as we took shelter in the entranceway of a building,” the unnamed volunteer recounted.
Sumy serves as the main city in the region of the same name, bordering several Russian regions, including Kursk.

-
Economic and Social Impact: NCC Director-General, Dr. John Asein, emphasized that organized piracy is a major criminal enterprise that undermines Nigeria’s creative economy, destroys jobs, and weakens national security.
-
Intersecting Supply Chains: Both agencies identified that the same clandestine networks, transportation routes, and financial channels used for drug trafficking are frequently utilized to distribute pirated goods and launder criminal proceeds.
-
Inter-Agency Synergy: The leadership of both organizations highlighted the importance of moving away from isolated operations toward a collaborative model that leverages the specific expertise and intelligence capabilities of each agency.
The initiative aims to more effectively disrupt illegal supply chains, dismantle criminal structures, and protect both the creative sector and the general public from the influence of organized crime.
