Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sani Hassan, recently visited Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, the operator of the Kainji Hydropower Plant, emphasizing the need to enhance the protection of critical national infrastructure. This visit, reported by the Genco to DAILY POST, aimed to highlight the Kainji hydropower facility’s significance as a vital national asset and its contributions to Nigeria’s industrial growth and energy security.

During the visit, Air Marshal Hassan praised Mainstream Energy Solutions for its exemplary management of the hydropower facility. He expressed admiration for the company’s achievements, particularly through the Mainstream Foundation. “I don’t think I have encountered a private company that has achieved so much in this area. You can see the impact on the lives of the people. I commend you for this outstanding act of corporate social responsibility,” he stated.

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.
