PRESS RELEASE FROM APC NEW MEDIA DIRECTORATE
The people of Edo State deserve answers, not excuses. Governor Godwin Obaseki must come clean and tell the people of Edo what exactly he does with the over ₦17 billion in monthly revenue he collects. Each time fuel prices increase, Edo State grows richer, yet its citizens remain impoverished, suffering from a lack of basic infrastructure and development. Instead of using this windfall to improve the lives of the people, Obaseki repackages federal government palliatives like a desperate conman and pours resources into sponsoring his puppet candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
Edo State is sinking under Obaseki’s financial recklessness. The Governor claims to feel the hardship of the people, yet what tangible measures has he implemented to reduce the suffering in our communities? His so-called concern is nothing but a sham. His inability to manage the vast resources of the state for any meaningful development is alarming, and it’s even more shocking that he has the audacity to present Asue Ighodalo—his failed economic adviser—as his successor.
Obaseki’s financial stewardship is a disaster. Under his leadership, Edo’s debt has skyrocketed to over ₦500 billion in domestic debt and hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign debt. Where has all the money gone? It certainly hasn’t gone into building roads, fixing electricity, or providing clean water. Edo remains in the dark—literally and figuratively—while Obaseki and Ighodalo thrive on the suffering of our people.
Asue Ighodalo, the man Obaseki wants to force down the throats of Edo people, carries with him a tainted history. How can a man accused of masterminding the infamous Planwell Ponzi scheme of the 1990s—an act that led to untold suffering, financial ruin, and even suicides in Edo—be trusted to lead this state?
Ighodalo’s track record at Nigerian Breweries, where he is known for sinking the company’s fortunes, speaks for itself. This man has been Obaseki’s right-hand economic adviser, and together, they have driven Edo into a financial black hole.
Obaseki and Ighodalo hide behind big grammar and empty speeches, but Edo people are not fooled. Their MOUs—hundreds of them—have yielded no results. They boast of plans and projections, but our roads remain dilapidated, our communities lack basic utilities, and insecurity is rampant. Even farmers can no longer go to their farms safely, a fact admitted by Ighodalo himself. How dare he now promise solutions to problems that he and his godfather Obaseki created?
We cannot afford another four years of financial recklessness, political intolerance, and arrogant governance. Edo people have been left to suffer, while Obaseki and his clique enjoy the spoils of their deceit. They think the people of Edo are blind to their decptive agenda, but we say NO MORE!
Edo people, it is time to rise up and reject the PDP and its legacy of corruption. Godwin Obaseki has failed us, and his handpicked successor, Asue Ighodalo, is no different. We deserve leaders who will serve the people, not line their pockets. The future of Edo is at stake, and only a decisive rejection of the PDP’s failed governance will put our beloved state on the path to prosperity.
Signed:
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

GLOBAL TERROR NETWORK ROCKED: ISIS Second-In-Command Eliminated In Joint U.S.-Nigeria Strike!.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has formally announced a significant escalation in counterterrorism cooperation between Washington and Abuja, detailing a recent high-impact joint operation that resulted in the elimination of a top global ISIS leader within Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Rubio made these statements during a hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee regarding the State Department’s FY27 budget request, which was held on Wednesday in Washington, DC.
The U.S. official emphasized that the United States remains deeply concerned about the rising tide of violence in Nigeria, specifically highlighting attacks against Christians. He stated that this concern has translated into a new phase of active counterterrorism partnership with Nigerian authorities.
“We are now actively in counterterrorism cooperation with the Nigerian government and Nigerian security forces, including a joint operation a couple of weeks ago that took out the number two leader of global ISIS operating from inside of the country, and that continues,” Rubio informed the committee.
The operation, which was a coordinated U.S.-Nigerian assault on May 15, targeted the compound of Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki, identified as the second-in-command of global ISIS operations. The high-value target’s stronghold was located in the volatile Lake Chad Basin region.
Adding crucial context, U.S. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth further confirmed that Al-Minuki was the primary figure responsible for directing and executing multiple attacks on Christian communities across Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria had previously confirmed the death of Al-Minuki, noting that several of his top lieutenants were also neutralized in the precise mission. Tinubu expressed his strong desire for continued, decisive military strikes against all terrorist enclaves within the country.
Since the successful elimination of Al-Minuki, subsequent reports indicate that more joint U.S.-Nigerian operations have targeted and destroyed terrorist positions. Just days after the initial operation, Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters announced that a series of joint airstrikes in Metele, Borno State, had killed more than 20 ISIS/ISWAP fighters. Furthermore, on June 1, a separate airstrike in Arege, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, conducted by the Nigerian military in collaboration with the United States Africa Command, resulted in the death of an additional 21 ISWAP insurgents.
