APC Chieftain Gbogi Emmanuel Rejects Appointment as Special Assistant in Ondo State....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A significant political development has emerged in Ondo State as Mr. Gbogi Emmanuel, a prominent Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has turned down the Special Assistant position offered to him by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. This decision, expressed in a letter dated September 7, 2024, has drawn attention to the dynamics within the state’s political landscape.

In his letter, which he personally signed, Emmanuel indicated that the appointment surprised him, as he had not been consulted regarding his willingness or availability for the role. His rejection comes shortly after Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the appointments of 28 new Senior Special Assistants and 316 Special Assistants to his cabinet, as communicated by Chief Press Secretary Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Emmanuel’s concerns stemmed from a previous appointment as Chairman of the Transition Committee of Akoko South South Local Council Development Area (LCDA), which was later rescinded. Following this change, he returned to his business commitments in the United States, where he currently resides.

In his letter, titled “Declination of Special Assistant Appointment,” Emmanuel expressed his gratitude for the offer but emphasized the unexpected nature of the appointment. He stated, “To be honest, the appointment came as a surprise, as I was not consulted by anyone about my willingness or availability beforehand.”

He further elaborated on the implications of the rescinded appointment, suggesting that it indicated a lack of value placed on his contributions within the administration and the party. Emmanuel noted, “The circumstances surrounding the removal of my name from the initial announcement… led me to believe that my contributions were no longer valued in your administration and the party.”

While appreciating the offer, Emmanuel highlighted that accepting a role perceived as a demotion would conflict with his principles. He articulated, “I fear that this new appointment… may be perceived as a demotion, and I cannot in good conscience accept a role that may be seen as beneath my capabilities.”

In closing, he wished Governor Aiyedatiwa and the APC success in their future endeavors, indicating a desire to maintain a positive relationship despite his decision to decline the appointment.

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
