Edo Elections Under Threat: APC Accuses Obaseki and PDP of Voter Card Fraud
Edo Elections Under Threat: APC Accuses Obaseki and PDP of Voter Card Fraud....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The APC New Media Directorate has issued a grave warning about alleged attempts by Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to undermine the forthcoming Edo State elections. According to the Directorate, the Obaseki administration is engaged in a fraudulent scheme involving the mass collection of voters’ cards, a move it claims is aimed at rigging the election in favor of the PDP.
The controversy erupted following the release of a video from Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area (LGA), which reportedly shows INEC officials working in concert with PDP members to collect voters’ cards. In the video, a whistleblower details how these cards are being collected in bulk, raising serious concerns about the manipulation of the electoral process. The APC New Media Directorate has condemned this action as a blatant attack on democratic principles and a severe threat to the fairness of the elections.
The Directorate’s concerns are corroborated by reports from across Edo State, where APC members have found their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) missing. Notable instances have been reported in Unit 6 (Edokha Primary School, Ukhomedokha) and Ward 10 (Okpekpe). The APC alleges that these incidents are part of a deliberate strategy by the PDP to suppress opposition votes and secure an unfair advantage in the upcoming elections.
“The scale and coordination of this voter card collection scheme suggest a deliberate attempt by the PDP and Obaseki’s administration to skew the election results,” the APC New Media Directorate said in a statement. “This is not just a case of election fraud; it’s an assault on the democratic rights of every Edo citizen.”
The APC has called for immediate action to address the alleged voter suppression, urging all Edo citizens to be vigilant and to demand that INEC take swift measures to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. “Our democracy is under threat,” the Directorate warned. “Edo citizens must stand united to protect their right to vote and to ensure that every vote counts.”
The APC also criticized Governor Obaseki and the PDP for what it describes as desperate and unethical tactics. “If the PDP were confident in their record and support, they wouldn’t need to resort to such illegal practices,” the statement read. “The people of Edo State will not be intimidated or silenced by these underhanded tactics.”
The APC New Media Directorate vowed to continue its efforts to expose any further attempts at election manipulation and to uphold the democratic rights of Edo citizens. They urged the public to remain engaged and proactive in defending the integrity of the electoral process.
