In the corporate world, office politics can have far-reaching effects on employees, particularly younger staff. Today, as I mark another year of life, I reflect on my experiences at Zenith Bank and the impact of office politics on my career.
I extend my gratitude to God for protecting me from the detrimental effects of office politics and for allowing me to thrive despite the challenges I faced. My experiences at Zenith Bank, particularly with former Managing Director now Chairman of Globus Bank, Michael Osilama Otu, and his associate Sam Ugbeda, highlight the toxic environment that can pervade corporate settings.
During my tenure at Zenith Bank, I encountered significant opposition and sabotage. I believe I was targeted with harmful practices, including alleged attempts to poison me using rituals from Agenebode and Idah. Both Otu and Ugbeda were involved in these attempts, but I managed to survive. I challenge Otu, who boasts of intelligence yet failed to secure admission to notable institutions like UNIBEN, OAU, or UNILAG, to contest these claims in court.
Despite the adversity, I have achieved notable academic success, including two doctorate degrees—one in Corporate Governance and Leadership and the other in Law. It is clear that Otu’s envy would have been a significant obstacle had I remained at Zenith Bank.
Furthermore, the unprofessional conduct of Barrister Emeka Anyseji, who is affiliated with Jim Ovia, further exemplifies the problematic nature of office politics. Anyseji’s decision to replace a capable individual with Ugo Okonkwo, in collusion with a member of HR, reflects a lack of integrity and fairness in personnel decisions.
As I prepare to pursue legal action against Zenith Bank for my severance package, I urge all who are aware of the situation to support my cause. The conflict with Michael Otu and his associates, who have undermined my career and reputation, will soon be brought to the Industrial Court.
