Church Clash: Gombe Protesters Denounce LGBTQ Faction, Demand Unified FaithIn Gombe State, hundreds of members of the United Methodist Church (UMC) took to the streets to denounce a faction within their community that is accused of advocating for LGBTQ rights and regionalization.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The protest, held at the Northern and Central Nigeria Annual Conferences in Gondum village, Shongom local government area, saw demonstrators brandishing signs rejecting LGBTQ rights and regionalization. They voiced their commitment to maintaining a unified church and expressed their opposition to what they consider “unholy acts.”

Yohana Wesley, the Resident Bishop of Nigeria UMC, stated that the faction’s refusal to follow established church protocols prompted their disowning.

Chipau Kiliyobas, Director of Connectional Ministry for the Northern Nigeria UMC Annual Conference, identified the conflict over LGBTQ rights and regionalization as the core issues dividing the factions.

Efforts by Bishop John Schol, a representative of the Council of Bishops from the United States, to mediate and unify the church were met with resistance from the protesters. Schol assured that regional decisions regarding same-sex marriage would be honored without global imposition, but this did little to sway the demonstrators.

The traditional majority within the church maintains a strong stance against the recognition of LGBTQ rights, viewing such acts as contrary to their beliefs. The protest underscored their resolve to oppose any acceptance of these rights within their religious community.

A pressure group known as the Kebbi ADC Unity Forum is urging Abubakar Malami, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate for 2027, to select his running mate from the Kebbi South Senatorial District. The group’s coordinator, Garba Abdulkareem, formally recommended Paul Gambo Tase for the deputy governorship, arguing that this choice would foster regional balance, equity, and political inclusiveness within the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Strategic Rationale: Because Malami hails from the Kebbi Central Senatorial District, the forum contends that the deputy governorship slot should be zoned to the South to ensure fair representation.

  • Candidate Profile: Paul Gambo Tase is a retired economist formerly with the NNPC and was the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 elections. According to the forum, Tase is both qualified and willing to serve if selected.

  • Broad Support: The forum describes itself as a coalition comprising professionals, community leaders, youth, and women, all aiming to bolster the ADC’s performance in the upcoming 2027 polls.

Abubakar Malami, who previously served as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, is now the ADC’s flagbearer for the Kebbi State governorship race.

“We Have Nowhere To Go”: Displaced Nasarawa Villagers Beg For Help As Invaders Occupy Their Territory!.

Published

What began as a series of violent attacks in the Odeni Gida Ward of Nasarawa State—resulting in over 80 deaths and the widespread destruction of homes and farms—has escalated into a more alarming situation: the apparent occupation of deserted villages by the very individuals who forced the residents out. Survivors report that these attackers are now openly grazing cattle in the abandoned communities, leading many to argue that the violence was a coordinated armed conquest rather than the “communal clash” often cited by government and security officials.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Disputed Narrative: Residents and community commentators, such as Yahaya Kana Ismaila, reject the “communal clash” classification, noting that the victims share no ethnic or territorial ties with the heavily armed invaders who carried out these simultaneous, sophisticated attacks.

  • Growing Impunity: Despite reports of significant loss of life, residents express deep frustration over the lack of arrests and accountability. Critics argue that premature reconciliation meetings and the inequitable distribution of relief materials have only served to weaken the pursuit of justice.

  • Desperate Appeals: With many villagers still displaced and fearful of returning to their homes, there is mounting distrust toward local authorities. Community members, including Abdulwahid Angala Odeni and Suleiman Otto Wakili, are now pleading for direct intervention from the Federal Government to address the ongoing insecurity and the illegal occupation of their lands.

As the tragedy continues to fade from public discourse, survivors are left to grapple with an existential question: if they cannot safely return, who now lays claim to their ancestral heritage?
