PDP Crisis Deepens: Inuwa Blames Wike And Ortom For Undermining Party To Boost TinubuMustapha Muhammad Inuwa, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged that the current turmoil within the party is being exacerbated by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.

Inuwa, who served as the campaign director for Atiku/Lado in Katsina State during the 2023 general elections, made these statements at a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Katsina, where the focus was on addressing the party’s ongoing crisis in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, a former national secretary of the PDP and the meeting’s chair, pledged to take decisive action to stabilize the party in Katsina ahead of the upcoming congresses.

During the meeting, Inuwa accused Wike and Ortom of deliberately destabilizing the PDP to benefit President Bola Tinubu’s political ambitions for the 2027 elections.

Inuwa asserted, “It is well-known that both Wike and Ortom have openly stated their lack of support for any presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, yet they have endorsed President Tinubu. Their true objective is not to win elections but to weaken the PDP, thereby facilitating Tinubu’s advantage for the 2027 polls. They are employing proxies within the state to execute this strategy.”

The meeting also addressed concerns from some Katsina stakeholders, who have accused a faction led by the 2023 governorship candidate Yakubu Lado Danmarke, supported by the state caretaker committee appointed by the national working committee, of hiding the party Congress forms.

During a recent visit to Washington, D.C., Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), argued that the prevalence of election rigging in Nigeria is largely due to voters failing to actively defend their ballots. Obi emphasized that while candidates play a role in the process, credible outcomes ultimately depend on citizens remaining at their polling units to ensure votes are counted transparently. He criticized the “transactional” nature of Nigerian politics, suggesting that many voters prioritize other activities over the essential task of monitoring the electoral process. According to Obi, Nigeria’s primary challenge is poor political leadership, and he urged citizens to take collective ownership of their votes to demand the accountable governance required for the country to succeed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for increased citizen involvement in protecting electoral integrity. During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., Obi stated that election manipulation persists because voters frequently leave polling stations before the counting process is completed. He argued that:

  • Voters must proactively defend their ballots at polling units to ensure transparency and prevent rigging.

  • Nigeria’s fundamental obstacle is a crisis of political leadership, rather than a lack of natural or human resources.

  • Real change requires Nigerians to move beyond passive participation and take active responsibility for the electoral process.
