Bloodshed In Yobe: Deadly Farmer-Herder Clashes Claim Lives And Injure ManyIn a series of violent clashes between farmers and herders across various communities in Yobe State, one person has been killed and many others injured.

The Yobe State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed in a statement that 14 such incidents have recently been recorded, leading to significant loss of life and property.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

One of the incidents occurred on July 1, 2024, in Gazarkuma village, Nangere local government area. Youths allegedly mobilized by the village head attacked farm laborers in Gubate village, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old tractor driver, Mohammed Kabiru, and leaving another person grievously injured.

On June 26, 2024, police in Damagum arrested Abduwahab Abubakar, 40, along with four other suspects for conspiring and attacking Hussaini Lawan Sani, 45, of Goba Abba Village. The attackers, armed with dangerous objects, robbed the victim of N250,000.00. The suspects are currently detained as investigations continue at the State CID.

The police attributed these recurring incidents to late reporting of aggressive trespassing, unresolved disputes, and informal land allocation arrangements. The command warned that criminal elements exploiting these situations for ulterior motives would be arrested and prosecuted.

The State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, emphasized his command’s commitment to addressing agro-related conflicts. He stated that Divisional Police Headquarters have been directed to encourage early dispute referrals, organize monthly community engagement meetings between farm owners and herders, and ensure vigilant surveillance of potential troublemakers.

  • The lawsuit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1215/2026, challenged the primary election that resulted in Atiku Abubakar becoming the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

  • Amaechi had previously requested the court to set aside the ADC presidential primary held on May 25, 2026, claiming that he was the rightful winner.

  • Furthermore, he had sought orders to restrain Abubakar from presenting himself as the ADC presidential candidate and to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing him as such.

  • The suit also demanded that the party be mandated to conduct a fresh primary election within 14 days, in accordance with the Electoral Act, the ADC constitution, and party guidelines.
