Ohanaeze Ndigbo: South-East Leaders Intend To Prolong Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention Until 2027....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Writing by Sediq Mutari

The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has accused South-East governors, Igbo leaders, and National Assembly members of conspiring to extend the detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, until 2027.

In a statement issued by the factional Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the organization blamed the South-East governors for the deteriorating security situation in the region.

The statement noted that the Southeast governors and certain Igbo leaders had not provided the necessary assurances required to explore political solutions for Kanu’s release. Ohanaeze expressed disappointment that these leaders merely took photos with Kanu at the DSS facility instead of actively seeking his release through political means.

The statement partly read, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo decries and brings to light the plots by South-East governors, Igbo elders, and National Assembly members to prolong Nnamdi Kanu’s detention until 2027. The failure of some South-East governors to utilise their political ties to advocate for Kanu’s release is regrettable and underscores self-interest over communal welfare.”

Ohanaeze underscored the crucial need for unity and cooperation among South-East governors and esteemed Igbo personalities, such as Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Pa Ebitu Ukiwe, Sen. Ike Nwachukwu, and others, in providing the federal government with assurances regarding Nnamdi Kanu’s future conduct post-release.

“Regrettably, it appears some South-East governors and Igbo elite have chosen to exploit Nnamdi Kanu’s detention for personal gain, political bargaining, and the pursuit of political relevance. Ohanaeze Ndigbo expresses deep concern over the behaviour of South-East governors, senators, representatives, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and other prominent Igbo figures who prioritise visits to Kanu in detention over seeking his release and addressing the pressing security challenges in our region.”

The organization emphasized that it is paramount for Ndigbo to hold South-East governors, Igbo elders, National Assembly members, and traditional rulers accountable for the extended detention of Nnamdi Kanu, rather than blaming the federal government or President Tinubu.

“The federal government awaits a united stance and commitments from the Igbo community to facilitate a potential release of Nnamdi Kanu.”

Isiguzoro called on all stakeholders in the South-East to set aside personal ambitions and unite in the effort to secure Kanu’s release and address the security challenges in the region.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has been appealed to by the leader of the Ijaw nation, Edwin Clark, to direct the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, to file a nolle prosequi for the release of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Clark urged Tinubu to ask the Attorney General to file the nolle prosequi, noting that Kanu’s release on political grounds was long overdue.

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has insisted that he has no intention of leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite what he described as the humiliation and mistreatment he and his family have endured.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Okorocha made the declaration during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he discussed his prolonged disagreement with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

The former senator recounted several incidents, including an alleged attack by thugs, an attempt on his life, the shooting of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, and the assault on his daughter.

Despite these experiences, Okorocha maintained that he would remain in the APC, stressing that he was one of the party’s founding members and would not leave for anyone.

He said: “I didn’t go against the Imo State government, so why must the Imo State government be talking on a matter? The attempted murder of my person, when one of his thugs came to attack me, if not for the grace of God, when one of his policemen came to me and spoke in Hausa that, ‘Please leave this place or they will kill you.’

“Or is it the shooting of my in-law, and he was in hospital for nine months, or the handcuffing of Uche Nwosu as a criminal? They went to a church and shot before arresting him. Is it that which was resolved?

“No one in this country will take the humiliations that I have taken. No one in this country or in this world has taken the humiliation.

“Having seen my daughter beaten, her husband handcuffed, police officers macheted all over, and we are still members of the APC.

“I founded this party, and the name APC was given by Rochas Okorocha. Ask anybody, I was among the founding fathers of this party, and so I will not leave the party for anybody.”

‘I Was Not Happy With My Skin’ – Actress Habibat Jinadu Opens Up About Bleaching.

Nollywood actress Habibat Jinadu has disclosed that she bleached her skin in a bid to secure more acting opportunities in the movie industry.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The actress made the revelation during an interview with BBC Yoruba, where she explained that she initially believed her dark complexion and slim body were limiting her chances of getting movie roles.

According to Jinadu, she felt pressured to change her physical appearance because she believed the industry favoured light-skinned and chubby actresses.

She said she decided to bleach her skin in the hope of increasing her chances of being cast in movies, adding that the decision initially appeared to yield the desired results.

Jinadu, however, disclosed that the change in her appearance made it difficult for some people to recognise her, while she also began experiencing skin injuries and tears from minor bruises on movie sets.

She said: “I bleached my skin because if you were dark-skinned, then you would not get a role. Also, if you were not chubby but slim, you would not get a role. So, I went ahead, bleached my skin and started expecting to get roles. And indeed, I started getting roles. But people could not recognise me any longer. If I stepped out to buy something, people would go like, ‘You look familiar,’ ‘You look like an actress,’ and all sorts. I was not happy with it, but I kept on pushing.

“Then, I started sustaining injuries and tears from minor bruises on sets and all. It all dawned on me when I got pregnant in 2023. And when you are pregnant, you cannot bleach your skin. When I eventually stopped, people started abusing me and calling me all sorts of names.”
