He elaborated, highlighting the economic challenges plaguing the nation, stating, “Nigeria is not economically free, given the widespread suffering and the detrimental economic policies that have led to a significant decline in the standard of living for its citizens.”

Joe further emphasized the plight of the working class, asserting, “We are not free when the working class in Nigeria continues to endure hardship and deprivation.”

Pointing to specific issues such as fuel subsidy removal and the escalating cost of food items, Joe underscored the ongoing struggles faced by Nigerians in their daily lives.

Despite twenty-five years of uninterrupted democracy, Joe lamented the absence of reliable electricity supply, stating, “We are not free.”

He also expressed concerns about the integrity of the electoral process, noting, “We are not free when there is a lack of trust in our electoral system, casting doubts on the very foundation of democracy that led to the establishment of this commemorative day known as June 12.”

Joe further criticized the actions of law enforcement agencies, condemning their continued harassment and oppression of young Nigerians.

In conclusion, Joe expressed hope for a transformative shift towards genuine democracy, calling for a collective effort to address injustices and promote equity in Nigerian society.

In a separate development, troops under Operation Hadin Kai arrested a 25-year-old man, Muhammad Mustapha, for allegedly spying on military movements and providing logistical support to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. The suspect, a native of Monguno Local Government Area, was detained on July 16 during a joint night patrol by the 403 Amphibious Brigade, the 130 Battalion (Motorised), the Nigerian Borderless Logistics Corps, and the Civilian Joint Task Force.
