IPOB Denounces Claims Of Army Reprisals In Abia StateThe Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has dismissed allegations that the Nigerian Army launched reprisals against the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Abia State following an attack on soldiers. IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, issued a statement on Tuesday labeling the reports as blackmail and propaganda.

Emma Powerful emphasized that the camp allegedly invaded by the army belongs to the Biafran National Guard (BNG), a group with no affiliation to IPOB or the ESN. He accused the Nigerian government and its security forces of deliberately targeting IPOB while other groups are agitating for Biafra.

“The recent statement from the Nigeria military where they claimed they invaded ESN camp at Afikpo forest in Abia State, indicated that they are clueless and bent on demonizing IPOB even when the truth is bare to the public. The invaded camp belongs to a group that called themselves the Biafran National Guard (BNG). These groups have no affiliation with IPOB and ESN,” the statement read.

Powerful suggested that the Nigerian government might be sponsoring other Biafra agitators to use their violent activities as a means to discredit IPOB and the ESN. He cited an instance in Imo State where the army invaded a camp called Valley camp and labeled it as an ESN camp to blackmail IPOB.

“The latest claim by the Nigerian Army of invading and killing some of the armed agitators is one of their blackmail against IPOB and ESN. Whether the Nigerian Army invaded the camp or killed the armed fighters, has nothing to do with ESN Operatives. ESN Operatives have no camp in the so-called Afikpo forest and we do not have any affiliation with the BNG armed group,” Powerful asserted.

The statement by IPOB underscores ongoing tensions and accusations between the group and the Nigerian government regarding the conflict in the region.
