Promoting Female Representation
Governor Fintiri, who had previously chosen Professor Kaletapwa Farauta as his female running mate during his gubernatorial campaign, encouraged aspiring council chairmen to follow his example. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging the significant contributions of women within the party.
Commitment to Fair Elections
Fintiri warned against any sabotage or anti-party activities during the election period. Reflecting on past issues faced during the gubernatorial election, he urged stakeholders to approach the upcoming elections with utmost dedication and seriousness.
“I want every one of us not to repeat what happened during the last governorship election. Handle it with all sense of commitment and without any lackadaisical attitude,” Fintiri stated.
Acceptance and Fairness
Governor Fintiri advised aspirants who may not succeed in the primaries or the actual election to accept the outcomes gracefully. He called on all PDP stakeholders to ensure that the party’s primary elections are conducted freely and fairly.
Preparations for the Elections
The state Chairman of PDP, Tahir Shehu, explained that the meeting aimed to discuss the party’s preparations for the local government elections. The elections will take place in all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State, where new chairmen and councillors will be elected.
Governor Fintiri’s directive highlights a significant push towards gender inclusivity and empowerment of women in the political sphere of Adamawa State.

He made the remark during an interview on Arise News on Wednesday, where he was asked whether he would withdraw in Obi’s favour if the former Labour Party candidate wins the party’s primary.
Atiku confirmed he would respect the outcome, saying he is prepared to step aside for any winner, including Obi.
“Of course, if he is a contender, why not?” he added when pressed further.
He also noted that other aspirants such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi are also in the race for the ADC ticket.
The former presidential candidate explained that his stance reflects democratic principles, stressing that candidates can emerge either through consensus or election.
Atiku further expressed confidence that the North remains a strong political base for him ahead of 2027, saying the region continues to show unity and support in past elections.
