Ayuba Katako, Chairman of Rafi Local Government, confirmed the incident in an interview with Channels TV in Minna. He noted that the military, police, and vigilantes are actively working to ensure peace and security in the area. Katako also expressed concerns over the frequent attacks on security personnel and called for public support and prayers to combat the ongoing insecurity in Niger State and the wider region.

In a separate incident, Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped several passengers along the Maiduguri/Kano highway on Monday evening. The abductions occurred between Garin Kuturu and Mannanari village near Auno at approximately 5:50 pm. The terrorists barricaded the highway, taking numerous passengers captive. This led to significant disruptions, with many travellers forced to return to Benishek and Auno due to the blockade.
