The statement highlighted Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to maintaining zero tolerance for misconduct and ensuring transparency and accountability in governance. It stated that Otti’s decision aligns with the administration’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that appointees’ actions are in the best interest of Abians.

The Abia State Government emphasized its commitment to due process, stating that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty. As such, rigorous investigations will be conducted to establish the facts surrounding the allegations against Dr. Okoronkwo.

During the suspension period, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeyinwa Kalu, will collaborate with Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Azodo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, to oversee the affairs of the Ministry.
