APC Risks Rebellion From Ordinary Nigerians, Says Ex-Vice Chairman Lukman A former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has voiced concerns that the ruling party has strayed from its core principles and is beginning to mirror the very party it sought to replace, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Lukman emphasized that the APC initially formed to correct the anomalies within the PDP by merging opposition parties. However, he believes the party has now deviated from its priorities, particularly in the areas of health, education, and social services.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Lukman criticized the PDP for its lack of internal democracy and imposition of candidates, issues the APC was supposed to resolve. He pointed out that these problems began to surface during Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which he described as operating under an emperor-like approach due to Buhari being the party’s main electoral asset.

“We envisioned a different kind of party with the APC. We aimed to avoid the pitfalls of the PDP, such as the imposition of candidates and lack of accountability. Our focus was on building a social democratic party prioritizing health, education, and social services, but we have deviated,” Lukman stated.

He expressed hope that with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Asiwaju), changes would occur. However, he lamented the current state of the party, highlighting that some of its organs have not convened since its formation and noting that no meetings have taken place for over a year, despite the party controlling the government.

Lukman’s statements reflect growing frustration within the APC and suggest potential unrest among ordinary Nigerians if the party continues on its current trajectory.

FCT Teachers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Demands.

Published

The State Wing Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has ordered all public primary and secondary school teachers in Abuja to commence an indefinite strike from Monday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The union also directed parents and guardians to keep their children at home until further notice, citing unresolved welfare concerns and what it described as government inaction.

This followed a communiqué issued after an emergency SWEC meeting held in Gwagwalada, Abuja, over the weekend and signed by the state leadership of the union.

Teachers were instructed to fully comply with the strike directive and await further instructions from the union leadership, as the industrial action remains in force until their demands are addressed.

According to the communiqué, the strike became necessary after the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum earlier issued to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, which elapsed without a satisfactory response.

The union recalled that although previous interventions led to the suspension of an earlier strike, several key issues affecting teachers’ welfare were still unresolved.

It also expressed concern that a committee set up to address outstanding entitlements submitted its report in August 2025, but the findings have not been made public or implemented.

While acknowledging the payment of the new minimum wage and some salary arrears, the union insisted that major concerns remain unattended.

The NUT further demanded reforms in promotion processes and a review of the 2024 promotion exercise.

After what it described as unsuccessful engagements and expired deadlines, the union declared that all teachers in the FCT will remain on strike indefinitely until their demands are met.
