Akpata’s Momentum Unstoppable, Gains More Supporters Following Destruction Of His Billboards By Obaseki’s Touts Across EdoIn an unprecedented act of political suppression, the Edo State government has been systematically dismantling the billboards of Labour Party candidate Olumide Akpata. Despite these billboards being lawfully paid for and approved by the relevant authorities, the so-called local councils have taken it upon themselves to tear them down, violating constitutional rights and undermining the democratic process.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This blatant act of censorship has sparked widespread outrage among Akpata’s supporters and the general public. Akpata, whose popularity has surged across the state, is seen as a formidable candidate in the forthcoming Edo governorship election. His message of change and progress has resonated with many, making the government’s actions appear as a desperate attempt to stifle his growing influence.

Legal experts and political analysts have condemned this move as an egregious abuse of power. “This is not just an attack on Olumide Akpata; it’s an attack on democracy itself,” said a prominent legal scholar. “The removal of these billboards is a clear violation of free speech and electoral fairness.”

Not long after news of this spread, Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor, also known as Ultimate Equal, swiftly took to his social media platforms to shed more light on the matter, highlighting what he sees as a clear injustice.

Activist Ultimate Equal, armed with multiple pieces of evidence, revealed that the destruction of the former NBA President’s billboards in popular areas of the state was fully organized and financed by cult members, allegedly at the behest of the sitting Governor, Godwin Obaseki. This move, according to Eholor, was an attempt by Obaseki to hinder the unstoppable momentum of the Labour Party candidate in favor of his chosen successor.

Legal experts and political analysts have condemned this move as an egregious abuse of power. “This is not just an attack on Olumide Akpata; it’s an attack on democracy itself,” said a prominent legal scholar. “The removal of these billboards is a clear violation of free speech and electoral fairness.”

Eyewitnesses report seeing government workers dismantling the billboards under the cover of night, a clandestine operation that smacks of political intimidation and fear-mongering. Citizens are calling for immediate action and accountability, demanding that the billboards be reinstated and that those responsible be held to account.

The Labour Party has vowed to take legal action against the state government, calling for an end to these undemocratic practices. Labour Party’s governorship candidate for the upcoming Edo State election, Barrister Olumide Akpata, has issued a stern warning to those dismantling his billboards. He demanded that they cease this activity immediately or face serious repercussions. According to Akpata, no individual or group has the exclusive right to remove billboards across the state.

This scandal has cast a dark shadow over the upcoming election, raising serious questions about the integrity of the electoral process in Edo State. As the people rally behind Olumide Akpata, the world watches to see if justice will prevail in this crucial test of democracy.

Although this revelation may not come as a surprise to many, given that the Obaseki administration has been marred by injustice, criminality, corruption, thuggery, and alleged occult activities since its inception. Recall the incidents during the last presidential election when Obaseki and his former ally-turned-foe, Shaibu, allegedly ordered thugs to storm polling units with orders to shoot on sight after failing to secure victory for their party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, resulting in the deaths of at least two innocent individuals.

As it stands, thousands of supporters of the PDP have made a U-turn to support Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata of the Labour Party due to the injustice allegedly carried out by the sitting Governor against an individual who is fully focused on his ongoing issue-based campaign. His anointed candidate, who is also a lawyer, seems to share his mindset of injustice.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
