FG Withdraws Terrorism Charge Against Miyetti Allah’s Leader, BodejoThe Federal Government, on Wednesday, withdrew the three-count terrorism charge it had entered against the detained President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Bodejo was arrested at the Miyetti Allah’s office in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State shortly after unveiling a vigilante group.

The Federal Government had alleged that he established an ethnic militia in Nasarawa State and was involved in activities prejudicial to national security and public safety.

It accused Bodejo of providing material support, assistance, and transportation for activities connected with acts of terrorism, citing various sections of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Despite being in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) since January 23, the trial court had on March 22 approved his detention. However, an affidavit filed by the Federal Government on May 27 was unsuccessful in securing his release on bail.

In a surprising turn of events, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, applied to withdraw the charge when the case was called up for hearing on Wednesday.

Mrs. Aderonke Imana, a lawyer from the AGF’s office, moved an oral application for the withdrawal of the case, which was not opposed by Bodejo’s legal team led by Mr. Ahmed Raji, SAN. They expressed gratitude for the AGF’s decision.

In a brief ruling, trial Justice Inyang Ekwo discharged the defendant of all allegations against him, effectively putting an end to the legal proceedings.
