This prayer session comes after Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf deposed Ado Bayero along with four other emirs last Thursday. Following this action, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Muhammad Sanusi, was appointed as the 16th Emir of Kano.
Upon his removal, Ado Bayero returned to Kano on Saturday and moved into a mini palace in Nassarawa. His supporters flocked to the airport to welcome him and later escorted him to his temporary residence.
The city of Kano has been experiencing protests in reaction to the emirate dispute and the dissolution of other emirates.
Ado Bayero’s Call for Peace
Amidst the ongoing tension, Ado Bayero has called for peace in Kano State. He emphasized the importance of equality before the law and urged the public to remain composed. Addressing the gathering at his temporary residence, Bayero expressed his faith in the triumph of justice and committed to adhering to the legal process. He also underscored the significance of Kano as a vital state in Nigeria.
Speaking in Hausa, the dethroned monarch appealed to the people to respect the law and patiently await the resolution of the dispute through the judicial system.
