According to a survivor who narrowly escaped the attack, the assailants blocked the road near the bridge before Alfred Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, opening fire on a bus and a Honda vehicle that were passing by. The bus conductor, a female passenger, the Honda driver, and two female occupants of the vehicle were forcibly taken by the gunmen.
Fortunately, one of the abducted women was later released due to severe injuries sustained during the ordeal. Police personnel swiftly responded to the scene and transported the injured victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the Benue State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, could not be reached for a statement.
The incident underscores the continued threat of insecurity posed by armed groups in various regions of Nigeria, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect citizens and prevent further acts of violence.
