Tems, who gained international recognition in 2020 following her collaboration with Wizkid on the hit song ‘Essence,’ revealed in a recent interview with the New York Times that her debut album, initially slated for release in 2021, had to be delayed due to illness. This illness necessitated surgery and a six-month recovery period.
During this setback, Tems released her sophomore extended play, ‘If Orange Was a Place’ instead.
Her journey to recovery served as inspiration for her new music, with themes centered around resilience and embracing life as a warrior.
“Being a warrior means never giving up,” she remarked. “Even if circumstances are challenging, you persevere using whatever means you have at your disposal – and that’s sufficient.”
Tems’ highly anticipated debut album, ‘Born In The Wild,’ is set to be released on June 7, marking a significant milestone in her career.
Additionally, she will embark on her inaugural headline world tour starting in June, further solidifying her status as a rising star in the music industry.
