Father Of Two Electrocuted On High-Tension Pole In Bayelsa
A tragic incident unfolded in Ekeki Police Station, Azikoro Road, Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, as a father of two, known simply as Amas, lost his life on Friday after being electrocuted on a high-tension pole…….CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Amas, who was not affiliated with the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), resided in the neighborhood and was on the pole to connect clients to the federal line when the incident occurred.
Due to the inconsistent power supply in the state, the federal line is the preferred and more stable option, promising 12-13 hours of power daily.
Hailing from Nembe Local Government Area, Amas was reportedly stuck on the pole for hours before PHCN officials arrived to rescue him.
An eyewitness, Micheal Orubo, expressed shock and grief, highlighting Amas’s role in the community and the tragedy of his sudden demise. “He just left us where we were playing a chess game, and said he was coming back but never returned,” Orubo lamented.
Another witness described the sequence of events, noting Amas’s departure immediately after the rain and the futile attempts to save him due to safety concerns and inclement weather.
It took hours before PHCN personnel arrived to retrieve Amas’s lifeless body from the pole. The news deeply affected his family, especially his mother, who was inconsolable upon hearing of his demise.
