During his recent visit to the Ambe community in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State to offer condolences for a recent attack, Senator Katung proposed the idea of conducting open trials for bandits.

Expressing his concerns over the rising wave of banditry and its impact on innocent citizens, Senator Katung emphasized the importance of exposing the identities of bandits to the public through open trials. He believes that such a measure would not only serve as a deterrent to potential perpetrators but also bring a sense of justice and closure to affected communities.

Commending the bravery of the community’s youths for apprehending one of the suspected attackers, Senator Katung urged security agencies to intensify efforts in identifying and prosecuting the masterminds behind such attacks. He warned against any form of collaboration with bandits within the community, stressing that perpetrators would face the full consequences of their actions.

In solidarity with the affected community, Daniel Amos, the representative of Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, offered condolences for the lives lost and pledged support for covering the medical expenses of the injured individuals. He also committed to collaborating with Senator Katung to push for the establishment of a military camp within the community, aiming to bolster security and restore confidence among residents.

Micah Audi, the youth leader of Ambe community, expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for their support during this challenging period, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in combating insecurity and restoring peace in affected areas.

Senator Katung’s proposal for open trials of bandits reflects a growing call for transparency and accountability in addressing security challenges, signaling a significant step towards fostering public trust and confidence in the justice system.
