Just when the dust seemed to settle after the resignation of Esan political heavyweight and revered PDP leader, Hon. Felix Akhabue, alias JOEFEL, the party was dealt another blow with the departure of two more key figures within a span of less than 24 hours.

First to make headlines was Mr. Martins Ajayi, the Number-1 Leader of Ward-3 in Esan West Local Government Area. A staunch ally of Hon. Felix Akhabue, Ajayi’s resignation sent shockwaves through the party ranks. Submitting his resignation through the Ward-3 Acting Chairman on May 7th, 2024, Ajayi cited personal reasons for his decision, leaving many to ponder the implications for the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

Adding to the PDP’s woes was the departure of Hon. Peter Oboh, a Major Leader and Grassroot Mobilizer from Ward-8, Ewu, in Esan Central LGA. Oboh’s resignation, also driven by personal reasons and a desire to foster grassroots development, underscored the growing discontent within the party’s grassroots base.

Amidst the flurry of defections, speculation runs rife about the future of the PDP in Edo State. Can the party weather this storm and emerge stronger, or are these defections indicative of deeper fissures within its ranks? Only time will tell as the September elections draw closer.

In the meantime, as the PDP grapples with internal strife, political pundits and observers are left to wonder: Will the party be able to regain its footing and mount a formidable challenge in the electoral arena, or is this the beginning of the end for the once-dominant political force in Edo State?

As the saga unfolds, one thing remains certain: the political landscape in Edo State is anything but predictable, and the twists and turns of this ongoing drama are sure to keep everyone on the edge of their seats.

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
