Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have apprehended two individuals suspected of kidnapping Imubhin Juliet, a pastor of Deeper Life Church in Benin City. Additionally, the suspects are accused of assaulting several church members.

The State Police Commissioner, Funsho Adegboye, revealed this development to journalists in Benin City, identifying the suspects as Brown John, 26, and Ayodele Aziz, 30.

Adegboye stated that the arrest took place on the Benin-Auchi road, following a tip-off received by the command’s crack team just two days after the incident. According to reports, Imubhin Juliet reported that armed assailants entered the church during a worship session, robbed the congregation of their belongings, and abducted her. She was taken away in her Toyota Highlander jeep, and her ATM pin was coerced from her to withdraw money.

The crack team intercepted the vehicle along Auchi Road and apprehended the suspects, recovering the vehicle in the process.

In an interview, one of the suspects, Brown John, denied involvement in the alleged robbery and kidnapping. He claimed to have been accompanying a friend to deliver a vehicle and was unaware of any criminal activity.

Similarly, Ayodele denied participation in the crime, stating that he was asked by a friend, who is now at large, to escort the vehicle for delivery, with the promise of payment. Ayodele asserted that he attended an OPC meeting and visited his father’s house on the day of the incident, unaware of any wrongdoing.

Both suspects maintain their innocence, alleging that they were unwittingly involved in the situation.
