Abia Govt Denies Newly Constructed Road Was Washed Off
Abia Govt Denies Newly Constructed Road Was Washed Off....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Abia State Government has refuted claims circulating on social media that stormwater washed off one of the new roads recently constructed by the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
Otumchere Oti, the Commissioner for Works, Abia State, made this clarification on Tuesday while inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of Pepples Road and other roads in Aba.
The commissioner, who conducted journalists around some of the project sites in Aba, stated that no section of the Pepples Road, which is still under construction, was washed off by rainwater.
He explained that the section of the road affected by stormwater was only the part where a loose stone base was laid without protection.
“As you can see, the road was not washed off. The area impacted by the stormwater is the section that has not been protected. Even at that, you can see the road standing solidly. We have gone round, and we have taken note of some aspects of the work to improve upon to further protect the road.
“We just had a stone base on the road, and you know this is a loose material. If you have this loose material and there is a flood on it, what do you expect to happen? The flood would carry the material. So, the road is still under construction.
“When you look at the road, you can see that the flood is coming from the right-hand side, and I have just seen that the catchment area of the drain that is servicing this area is very large. So we will address the issue and make sure that this kind of thing doesn’t happen again.
“I am here to inspect it personally and to see whether there is anything necessary for us to do to make sure this doesn’t occur again. Obviously, we have seen it, and we are going to apply necessary remedial measures to ensure that in the future, we don’t have this kind of problem. But of course, the problem would not have arisen if the road had been completed.
“This is just a loose material. It’s not protected. By the time we complete the road and ensure that all the sections are protected, this kind of thing cannot happen,” the commissioner explained.
Oti assured of measures by the state government to ensure the road was properly done.
According to the commissioner, “The catchment area of this road is very large. The water that is coming from the right-hand side is carrying a lot of rubbish to this place.
“If you look at the right-hand side, you will see all the things the flood is bringing from various places. So, it is another thing we need to watch.”

“Your Anger Is Misplaced!”: Oby Ezekwesili Exposes The Danger Of Shifting Accountability.to Pastor Adeboye
Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has called on Nigerians to stop targeting the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, with their frustrations regarding the state of the nation. She contends that the clergyman is being incorrectly singled out and is not to blame for Nigeria’s current difficulties.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ezekwesili emphasized the following points in her statement:
-
She characterized Adeboye as a humble servant of God who has spent his life advocating for peace and national development.
-
While acknowledging that many Nigerians want religious leaders to be more vocal in demanding government accountability, she maintained that Adeboye has consistently offered prayers and spoken up for the nation.
-
She explained that long-standing issues—such as systemic corruption, economic hardship, and insecurity—have left Nigerians exhausted and deeply distrustful of politicians, institutions, and influential figures.
-
She warned that the country has a tendency to prioritize less significant issues rather than addressing urgent national crises.
-
Ezekwesili noted that while Adeboye typically responds to criticism with “dignified silence,” she felt compelled to speak publicly to refocus attention on the “urgency of this moment” and the core issue: the need for religious leaders to help rescue the nation from “ineffectual, corrupt, and selfish politicians”.

The security operation led to significant disruptions, including:
-
Checkpoints and barricades were established on major roads leading to the Villa, restricting both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
-
Many employees were unable to reach their workplaces due to these movement restrictions.
-
Heavy traffic congestion occurred along the corridors of the Supreme Court, the National Assembly, and the Federal Secretariat, leaving many commuters stranded and forcing others to find alternative routes.
The demonstration, organized by human rights activist and African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore alongside the Take It Back Movement, was planned to begin at Eagle Square before moving toward the Presidential Villa. The primary goal of the protest is to demand the immediate release of all victims kidnapped nationwide. Furthermore, organizers have called for President Bola Tinubu to either ensure the safety and release of the captives or resign, citing a perceived failure of the government to protect citizens. This protest reflects growing public outcry regarding the frequency of school attacks and kidnappings, as well as a broader demand for increased accountability and improved security across Nigeria.
