Kogi Chief Judge Emphasizes Legal Compliance As New Court Opens In Olamaboro....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon Justice Josiah Majebi, emphasized the significance of having a court in any community, stating that it symbolizes civilization and adherence to the rule of law.

Justice Majebi made these remarks during the commissioning of a Senior Magistrate’s Court in Imane, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He expressed, “A society that has faith in the administration of justice and also prepares to make a conducive environment for its achievement is a civilized society.”

The Chief Judge inaugurated the court following the community’s collective efforts to have the court situated in the area.

He commended the community’s dedication and expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the establishment of the court, highlighting their demonstration of civility.

“I want to thank all of you that made donations and sacrifices for the attainment of this judicial height in this community. The Imane people, having taken the trouble, and having made sacrifices to ensure you have this court today, is a testimony to the fact that you are civilized.”

He noted that the presence of the court would promote investment by ensuring investors’ security.

“Having courts close to you is evidence of civilization. It will eventually lead to the development of the area by attracting investors who will believe that when criminal activities are perpetrated against them, the police will arrest and the criminals will be taken to court for prosecution. That confidence will be built that their investment would be protected and their presence in the community secured. So I want to say that as your community is attractive and advancing, with the establishment of this court, I assure you that whatever progress you may have made before now, you will progress more.”

Justice Majebi emphasized that the court was established to sanction lawbreakers, stressing that courts are meant to regulate the conduct of individuals.

“The court commissioning today is to take care of your legal needs here as far as criminal matters are concerned. We don’t establish courts to encourage criminals. We establish courts to sanction and regulate the conduct of individuals. So I want you to look at it that we are not calling for customers to that court from this society.

“When a court is established, it is also a warning to you not to commit crime because there’s a sanction awaiting you if you do.

“Therefore, the court is here to sanction conducts that breach the law and at the same time, serve as a signpost for you to know that there is punishment for every breach of the law.”

“We should also talk to our youths that the court is here to take care of those who misbehave. Though I believe that we are not going to be sending people from here to prison arbitrarily, just as my lord has advised just now, please warn yourselves,” he added.

ADC Ticket Battle: Kwankwaso, Amaechi, Others Blast Atiku Over Supremacy Claims.

Published

on

A heated political exchange has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential race, as camps backing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s rivals push back against his claims of superior popularity, especially in the North.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso rejected Atiku’s assertion that he remains the dominant northern vote-getter, insisting that such claims do not reflect today’s political realities.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement, aligned with a potential Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, dismissed Atiku’s influence in the North as largely elite-driven, arguing that Kwankwaso enjoys more genuine grassroots support.

Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi also reacted, faulting Atiku’s position and questioning the logic of relying solely on regional identity as a basis for presidential ambition.

Atiku, in a recent interview, had maintained that none of his northern rivals, including Kwankwaso, can match his electoral strength, while downplaying Kwankwaso’s influence beyond Kano State.

His remarks sparked criticism across political circles, with some opposition figures describing them as arrogant and dismissive of other contenders.

Kwankwaso’s camp, however, maintained that both Kwankwaso and Obi have more “organic” support bases compared to politically induced followership, warning that such comments could deepen divisions within the ADC coalition.

Amaechi also argued that the ADC presidential ticket should be determined through a competitive primary rather than consensus, insisting that all aspirants should be tested at the ballot.

The growing disagreement highlights rising tension within the opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections, as key figures intensify positioning for the party’s presidential ticket.
